Softfall filtered showerhead, chrome finish, with the replaceable filter cartridge visible inside the handle

FILTERED SHOWERHEAD

A showerhead with the filter inside it.

Public water arrives with chlorine still in it, because chlorine is what keeps it safe on the way to your house. It does its job for eight miles of pipe and then comes out of your shower, where you no longer need it.

Softfall filters in the last two inches of that pipe. Pull the cartridge out after a month and look at it.

Why there is no percentage on this page

Every shower filter you look at today tells you it removes 96 percent of something. Ask where that number came from and you usually find one lab test the seller paid for, run once, on water that is not yours.

There is a real standard for this in the US. It is called NSF/ANSI 177, and a filter that passes it carries the mark and a listing you can look up yourself. Softfall has not been through it, so we are not going to print a number we cannot stand behind.

What you get instead is the cartridge. Take it out after a month and hold it next to a new one. That is more honest than a figure on a graphic, and you do not have to take our word for any of it.

Softfall vs. the head that came with the house

      Your current showerhead

Filters the water before it reaches you

A cartridge you can pull out and inspect

A spray panel you can take off and rinse

Replaceable for $32 instead of a whole new head

    Questions, answered straight

    Does this soften hard water?

No. Hardness is dissolved calcium and magnesium, and taking those out needs ion exchange, which means a salt based softener plumbed into your house. No showerhead filter does it, including the expensive ones. If you see a shower filter sold as a hard water fix, that is marketing. Softfall filters chlorine, not hardness.

How do I know it is working?

Take the cartridge out and look at it. A used cartridge next to a new one is the evidence we offer, and it is the only evidence we are willing to offer, because we have not put this product through NSF/ANSI 177.

    Will it fit my shower?

If your shower arm takes a standard half inch thread, and nearly every US shower arm does, then yes. Unscrew the old head, wrap the thread with plumber's tape if you have some, and turn Softfall on by hand. The sets that include the hose let you take it off the wall and use it handheld.

How often do I change the cartridge?

When it has visibly discolored. How quickly that happens depends entirely on what is in your water and how long you shower, so we are not going to quote you a number of months we cannot back up. Replacement cartridges are $32 and change by hand.

Does it help with dry skin, dandruff or hair loss?

We make no health claims. Some brands in this category do, and back them with studies they paid for. We have not run one, so we are not going to imply we have. Softfall filters your shower water. What that is worth to you is your call.

    How long does delivery take?

1 to 3 business days to process, then 7 to 15 business days in transit. Free on every US order, and you get a tracking number by email as soon as it ships. It ships from our manufacturing partner overseas, which is what keeps the price where it is. If you need something this week, we are honestly not the right shop for you.
